March 26, 2013 by Peter Mahoney

Here’s a blog post idea I think I’ll follow through with for my personal brand blog…SEO is about reinforcing. Reinforcing your messages, your values, who you are and what you do.

Each page, every blog post, should help strengthen those key messages.

In fact, I believe I’ll blog that right this second. 🙂

Top tip for personal brand sites (if they’re based around freelancing or finding work), stick the contents of your CV up as plain text. It’s SEO gold.

One of the people I made a personal brand for last year was Julie Smith, who runs meditation courses. She just had me overhaul the structure of her site.

So the design hasn’t changed (and had very little to do with me, sure I made it but the job was outsourced to me by a template-company) but the site map, information architecture etc. has been redone in key places.

“Sure, I’ll download that directory for you and take a look”.

And now to action I start each day…

March 25, 2013 by Peter Mahoney

And now, to action!

I start each day by spending an hour pimping out my online presence (among replying to emails, and getting ready for the day). It’s totally worth it, but also not nearly enough!

Honestly, there’s so much I could be doing. I love it.

Close client interaction

March 25, 2013 by Peter Mahoney

This is the conversation that flowed on Twitter following a previous post. Early feedback and close client interaction really is critical—you don’t your web person to go off on a tangent!

Blog post! How I work #2 http://t.co/80ONRwmbuA

@petermahoney that’ll make an excellent way to visualise what i’m doing for a site too… Clients should see the process 🙂

— Sophia Exintaris 🍉 she/her (@eurydice13) March 22, 2013

That's why I took the pics! Client's love to see tangible work during the pre-"something to show you online" stage. @eurydice13

— Purple Web Marketing (@purpleweb) March 22, 2013

@petermahoney i agree!! I’ve got to get past the “but it’s not perfect” syndrome and start showing sketches. Slows me down!!!

— Sophia Exintaris 🍉 she/her (@eurydice13) March 22, 2013

I found I *had* to get over that, otherwise I risked creating a finished product the client didn't love. And starting again. @eurydice13

— Purple Web Marketing (@purpleweb) March 22, 2013

@petermahoney yep. Early feedback is critical. Been guilty of forgetting that myself. Eeep!!

I have over 2,500 5-star feedback reviews (and I’ve never received less than the full five.)

Here’s just one example, from Mike who runs Costello Entertainments:

Migration, Hosting, SEO and Speed Work on our new website all completed quickly and efficiently and Peter was most helpful in fixing an issue with a Popover on the site as well. If you’re thinking about asking Peter to do a job for you or hesitating, JUST DO IT! – He knows programming and the internet inside out, he’ll get the job done for you professionally, with a smile. I wish I could call a plumber or a tradesman to do the jobs I can’t do myself with the same level of confidence.
